If you're planning a trip to Monterey during concours week you're going to need help. It isn't just about the Pebble Beach Concours. It's more than the Concorso Italiano. It's three days at the Laguna Seca historic races, a day in Carmel's free street show, a visit to the Quail if you're lucky, a chance to watch the classics drive a portion of California's Highway 1... plus several world-class auctions. And that's only part of what's to be seen and enjoyed.
To get the most from your trip you'll need a program, something to tell you what's happening where, when... and how to find it.
Fortunately the good folks at Sports Car Market have produced a comprehensive guide to Monterey that you can view online or download and print prior to leaving. Their Insider’s Guide to Monterey is a comprehensive guidebook to all the Monterey action—auctions, concours, tours, rallies, events and more. And it's free. As the old Amex commercials used to remind us... don't leave home without it.
Unfortunately your reporter won't be there. My travel budget is limited to family visits in Toronto. But I've been to Monterey twice and oddly enough what I'll be missing most are the wonderful seafood dinners on the Pier. And the art galleries in Carmel. And, oh yes, those magnificent classic cars.
